The first fruits for this seaon's trials are ripe! Time to think about filing reports, so future growers can know what tastes and grows good! Gang members who need report forms will find them at the ITG Potting Shed.

Larry Watson's Great Expectations

July 27, 1999

ITG member, mechanical engineer, and tomato grower extraordinaire, Larry Watson of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania knew he had a winning variety in ITT #17 when his vines had produced these giants by mid-Summer. The impatient wait-and-watch begins for the first fruits to ripen, and this mammoth cluster is a harbinger of what is to come . . . .

August 10, 1999

Which takes longer:

the water to come to the boil in the pot you've got on the stove waiting for the just shucked corn or

the first of the main season's tomatoes to ripen?

Especially when the gardener has sweated out a hailstorm that threatened his "Great Expectations"

But a few days away from harvest, Larry's #17s look hale and hearty and HUGE!
