The first fruits for this seaon's trials are ripe! Time to think about filing reports, so future growers can know what tastes and grows good! Gang members who need report forms will find them at the ITG Potting Shed.

ITG: Homegrown experts and genuine originals

The diversity of tomatoes is amazing. Thousands of varieties mean none of us are likely to get to know them all. Few of us will even have a chance to taste more than a small fraction of what's available. Zapotec Pleated is an open-pollinated stuffing tomato. Not much juice and a nearly hollow container make it less than ideal for eating fresh out of hand but perfect to use as a container for salads and dips.

The number of tomato varieties is small compared to the diversity of gardeners, including members of the Internet Tomato Gang. Young. Old. First-timers. Old hands. Amateurs. Professionals. Listing all the variables would drive anyone to distraction--and boredom.

Since this is a site devoted to tomato lovers everywhere, it's only fittin' that we use it as a place to share Internet Tomato Gang members' stories, favorite tips, pet gardening peeves with each other. The Back Fence is also the place where you'll find tomato growing tips and glimpses of tomato and gardening history straight from the mouths of the real experts: the ITG members.
